A small pottery studio in Tartu — glazes, firings and the occasional disaster
Twenty-two mugs and a stack of side plates. The ash glaze came out greener than the test tiles, which nobody is complaining about.
Dug a bucket of red clay near the Emajõgi and sieved it twice. As a slip under a clear glaze it gives a warm rust colour. More tests next week.
The drying room has proper shelving now instead of planks on bricks. Pots dry more evenly and fewer of them crack at the rim.
Six beginners, six slightly wobbly bowls each. Everyone left with clay up to the elbows, which is how it should be.
